Gateshead Local History Society was formed in September 1964 by Gateshead Libraries and the membership has continued to grow each year.

We meet at Gateshead Library on the first Thursday of each month from September to April (excluding December) at 7.00pm and the annual subscription is £4.00.

Our local history nights are made up of various activities such as:

- Talks by visiting speakers some of whom are from other local history groups in the area

- Research activities

- Occasional visits to historic places of interest
